INTERNATIONAL TRAINING SCHOOL ON PLANT PARASITIC NEMATODES

The training school at Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS) are designed to ensure that course participant receives a proper understanding of the theoretical subject matter, methodology and acquire the necessary hands-on, practical skills. The ultimate aim and purpose of the course is to enable specialists to perform their work safely and efficiently. Training school is carried out in five days focusing on theoretical and hands-on skills of nematode detection and identification. Courses are focused on up-to date methodologies of nematode extraction, isolation, classical morphological taxonomy and molecular methods of nematode species diagnostics.

Four specific 5 day schools are organized at KIS:

  • Virus vector nematodes of the family Longidoridae and Trichodoridae
  • Root-knot nematodes (RKN) Meloidogyne spp.
  • Potato cyst nematodes (PCN) (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida)
  • Pinewood nematode (PWN) Bursaphelenchus xylophilus

Trainers: Dr. Saša Širca, Dr. Barbara Gerič Stare, Dr. Polona Strajnar, Dr. Gregor Urek

For whom? This school is intended for those who would like to get more experience in the species identification of plant-parasitic nematodes. Basic experience in nematology, microscopy skills and basic molecular skills are necessary!

Participants: Max. 4

Dates: Next training school will be held at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, Hacquetova ulica 17, SI-1000 Ljubljana, September 2019, daily from 9.00 till 16.00h on:
