Agricultural Institute of Slovenia is a public research institution founded in 1898. The number of persons employed at the Institute is 156, of whom 84 are researchers.


Institute is organised in the following departments: 

• Crop and Seed Science Department 
• Fruit and Vine Growing Department 
• Animal Science Department (Cattle breeding 8, Pig breeding 8, Beekeeping & bee research8)
• Plant Protection Department 
• Agricultural Engineering Department  
• Agricultural Economics Department  
• Central Laboratories (Agrochemical and Oenological Laboratories)
  
  

The Institute has also a special library with more than 32.000 units which is linked with other libraries at home and abroad.
