{"id":5501,"date":"2025-04-27T09:59:43","date_gmt":"2025-04-27T07:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kis.si\/about-the-institute\/infrastructure\/ptuj-infrastructure-center\/"},"modified":"2026-07-12T15:03:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T13:03:47","slug":"ptuj-infrastructure-center","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.kis.si\/en\/about-the-institute\/infrastructure\/ptuj-infrastructure-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Ptuj Infrastructure Center"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ptuj Infrastructure Center manages <\/span><b>38 hectares of land <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used for the breeding and <strong>maintenance selection<\/strong> of various agricultural plants, the <strong>production of high-generation seeds<\/strong>, and standard seed production for marketing. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the four units of the Department of Infrastructure and serves as <\/span><b>the central hub for seed production <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, IC Ptuj performs <\/span><b>maintenance selection for 78 agricultural plant varieties <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(e.g., Leda lettuce, Ptujska rde<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u010d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a onion, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u010c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u0161<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">njevec and Jabelski pisanec beans, Ptujski spring and Ptujski autumn garlic). Onion accounts for the largest share of basic seed, while standard seed is also produced, with a significant portion dedicated to the production of indigenous garlic varieties.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An on-site shop offers various products from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.
