Barbara Gerič Stare studied Biology at undergraduate level and Biomedicine - Microbiology at postgraduate level at the University of Ljubljana. She performed part of her PhD work on bacterium Clostridium difficile and its toxin genes as a visiting researcher at the Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine and the Université Catholique de Louvain, Faculté de médicine, Unité de Microbiologie. Her major interests and experiences are: molecular diagnostics, molecular phylogeny and effectors of the plant parasitic nematodes. She has been involved in several national and international research projects.
Research and expert work in the field of plant parasitic nematodes and other plant pathogens: identification with molecular methods, molecular phylogeny, variability and molecular evolution of parasitic factors (effectors) of plant-parasitic nematodes, plant-pathogen (virus, bacteria) and plant-pest (plant-parasitic nematodes) interactions, quality management systems.
