At the Jablje Infrastructure Center (IC Jablje), we conduct professional and research work on experimental fields and provide technical support for the scientific research activities of various departments of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. We produce seeds of different Slovenian varieties, including cereals, clovers, grasses, vegetables, and potatoes, and offer professional advice to farmers and growers.
IC Jablje is one of the four units within the Infrastructure, Research, and Knowledge Transfer Department at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. Within IC Jablje, the Center for Technology Transfer and the Center for Research and Experimentation operate to support scientific research, knowledge transfer, and the introduction of modern technologies into agricultural practice.
Center for Technology Transfer
The Center for Technology Transfer conducts activities on land areas dedicated to the cultivation of various propagation stages of diverse crops, forage plants, vegetables, and potatoes.
Key tasks:
- production and sale of seeds of Slovenian varieties of cereals, grasses, clovers, and potatoes, as well as high-quality bread and feed grains,
- professional and technical support to the research departments of the Institute and external institutions,
- transfer of new scientific findings into practice with an emphasis on sustainable farming and innovative technologies,
- advisory services for farmers in the fields of crop production and seed activities,
- organization of professional events aimed at knowledge exchange and presentation of achievements.
Center for Research and Experimentation
The Center for Research and Experimentation manages research land areas dedicated to trials and the support of plant breeding activities.
Key tasks:
- testing within the framework of professional tasks in the fields of plant protection, variety registration, and seed management, including the descriptive variety list and the International Permanent Organic Nitrogen Experiment (IOSDV),
- support to various Public Services, as well as the preservation and testing of new and indigenous varieties,
- cooperation in the breeding of potatoes, crops, vegetables, and forage plants, and the development of new, adapted varieties,
- implementation of modern technologies in agricultural production, including digitalization and precision agriculture,
- organization of professional presentations (e.g., open days), education, and training for farmers, agricultural advisors, students, pupils, and the general public.
