Introduction
The library of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia is a specialised library for the fields of agriculture, environmental protection and ecology.
Its specialised collection covers the following subject areas:
- Crop science and horticulture, including seed science,
- Genetics, breeding, conservation selection and gene banks in agriculture,
- Animal production (cattle, pigs, beekeeping),
- Fruit growing, viticulture and winemaking,
- Plant protection and environmental protection,
- Agricultural engineering and energy,
- Agricultural economics,
- Ecology of agricultural landscapes,
- Analysis of soils, mineral and organic fertilisers, animal feed, honey, pesticide residues, plant protection products, wine, must and spirits,
- Soil utilisation and soil protection.
The library materials are available to employees of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia as well as to external users. Journals, theses, dissertations and research reports can only be consulted in the reading room.
The library is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 13:00. External visitors are requested to register in advance by calling +386 1 280 51 48 or sending an email to knjiznica@kis.si.
Areas of work
acquisition and cataloguing of library materials, monographs, serials, and electronic resources,
coordinating consortium memberships for access to international scientific literature,
providing professional information regarding publications and the storage of research outputs,
maintaining and entering bibliographic data for AIS researchers,
advising researchers on publishing strategies and selecting suitable journals,
supporting the publication of professional works, including obtaining CIP records and legal deposit copies,
lending materials to AIS staff at their workplace, for home use, or in the reading room,
managing interlibrary loan services (both national and international).
