Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia

Introduction

Slovenians have a long beekeeping tradition, which serves as the foundation for all knowledge and insights related to modern beekeeping in Slovenia. Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia (BAS) contributes to the dissemination of rich, over two-hundred-year-old beekeeping knowledge from Slovenia through informal training programs both at home and abroad. The BAS was established in 2018 in response to the interests expressed by numerous countries in the transfer of Slovenian knowledge, competencies, and professional beekeeping practices to other nations. The BAS strives to spread beekeeping knowledge through non-formal education, promote Slovenian educational institutions in the field of apiculture, improve employment opportunities for vulnerable social groups, and increase awareness of the importance and role of bees, biodiversity, and pollination.

The educational programs of the Slovenian Beekeeping Academy are conducted by beekeeping instructors with appropriate expertise and experience. These are highly qualified practitioners with a positive attitude and the ability and desire to transfer knowledge and skills to students in Slovenian, English, and other foreign languages.
