Ptuj Infrastructure Center

The Ptuj Infrastructure Center manages 38 hectares of land used for the breeding and maintenance selection of various agricultural plants, the production of high-generation seeds, and standard seed production for marketing.

It is one of the four units of the Department of Infrastructure and serves as the central hub for seed production at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.

Currently, IC Ptuj performs maintenance selection for 78 agricultural plant varieties (e.g., Leda lettuce, Ptujska rdeča onion, Češnjevec and Jabelski pisanec beans, Ptujski spring and Ptujski autumn garlic). Onion accounts for the largest share of basic seed, while standard seed is also produced, with a significant portion dedicated to the production of indigenous garlic varieties.

An on-site shop offers various products from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. For more information on our offer, please visit the Produce (Pridelki) subpage.
