Introduction
The vision of Agricultural Economics Department is to be the most recognized professional research organization in the field of agricultural economics in Slovenia and distinguished by reliability, professionalism and credibility. The comprehensive wealth of data on Slovenian agriculture, which we collect, analyze and upgrade through our work, greatly contributes to quality information, efficiency and better goal-orientedness of our key users. We are an indispensable in the preservation and progress of Slovenian agriculture.
Our mission is to contribute to solving various problems of sustainable development of Slovenian agriculture through research, current state analysis and forecasts, to contribute to policy design and the development of strategic documents, and to upgrade our comprehensive wealth of data for various aspects of Slovenian agriculture. Our knowledge and results offer great potential for more efficient decision-making of our key users as well as more efficient policy making based on evidence and results.
Our key long-term program activities are:
- comprehensive monitoring and analysis of the state and development of the Slovenian agri-food sector,
- monitoring and assessing the income situation in agriculture at various levels,
- analysis of agricultural policy measures and budget expenditure,
- monitoring and assessment of production costs for individual agricultural commodity markets,
- analyses related to sustainable agriculture, climate change, the environment and rural areas, and
- development of modern methods of economic analysis in agriculture.
