Department of Agricultural Engineering and Energy

The research, development, and professional work of the department focus on renewable energy sources in agriculture, the rational use of energy, and technologies for mechanized production and processing.

For many years, we have collaborated with the domestic industry in the development and testing of new machinery and equipment. We provide consulting services regarding European Union regulations and guidelines on agricultural machinery safety and regulations for plant protection machinery. As part of our operational activities, we test tractors, implements, self-propelled machinery, and other equipment intended for use in arable farming, fruit growing, viticulture, and gardening.

In cooperation with universities and secondary schools, we organize practical training for students to familiarize them with the operation of agricultural machinery and measurement techniques. We enable agricultural engineering students to actively engage in research work and participate in the preparation of diploma, master’s, and doctoral theses. We offer end-users advice on the selection, use, and maintenance of agricultural machinery. We also serve as advisors to the Technical Museum of Slovenia within the Department for the History of Agricultural Engineering.

The department also hosts the headquarters of the Slovenian Society of Agricultural Engineering, which has for many years organized the Slovenian Convention of Historical Agricultural Machinery Enthusiasts, an event with a long-standing tradition.
