The research work is performed in the field of pip fruit and berries, where the main research topics are:
- regulation of fruiting potential in pome fruits,
- studying physiological processes related to flowering,
- effect of growth regulators,
- development of new techniques of applying PPP,
- organic production of fruit,
- sustainable ways of input of nutrients into the soil,
- sustainable methods of cultivating and protecting berries,
- studying soil conditions in berry plantations.
The basis of the expert work is the task called Special Testing and Development of New Varieties of Fruit Plants (the task was formerly called Introduction and Selection of Fruit Plants) lead by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. As part of this task, the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia is also responsible as the main institution responsible for individual fruit varieties, namely:
• Boštjan Godec, BSc – apple,
• dr. Darinka Koron – berries,
• dr. Matej Stopar – kaki fruit.
