Regional wine with recognised geographical indication (REGIONAL WINES PGO)

Regional wine with recognised geographical indication can be put on a market as “not-bottled” or “bottled” wine. Certificates for “not-bottled” regional wine with recognised geographical indication has a limited duration period of 6 months, while a decision on “bottled” wine is permanent.

SAMPLING:

Samples of regional wines with recognised geographical indication can be sampled and delivered by the producer themselves to the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. They can also be collected from our authorised representative at wine producers address if previously arranged (phone +386 1 280 51 60). For every sample, the producer must send:

at least 3 bottles with a content of at least 0.75 l,
wine identification number (from the product registration),
volume in litres and the marking of the wine container.

A RECEPTION SHEET must be filled out when submitting a sample for wine analysis.

OBLIGATORY ANALYSES:

Physico-chemical analyses: alcohol strength (%vol), total dry extract (g/l), extract without sugar (g/l), residual sugar (g/l), relative density at 20°C (-), total acids (g tartaric acid/l), volatile acids (g acetic acids/l), free sulphur dioxide (mg/l).

Regional wine with recognised geographical indication must meet the minimum/maximum requirements regarding physico-chemical parameters and must also be sensory evaluated with at least 14.1 points according to modified Buxbaum’s 20-point method.

PRICE:

Price excluding VAT for issuing certificates for local wine with recognised geographical indication is EUR 32.50.

Quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin (QUALITY AND SUPERIOR WINES ZGP)

Quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin can only be put on a market as “bottled”. The certificate issued is permanent and applies to still (non-sparkling) wines as well as semi-sparkling and sparkling wines.

SAMPLING:

Sampling by a representative of our authorised organisation directly in the wine producer’s cellar is obligatory for quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin. It is subject to prior agreement with our laboratory (phone +386 1 280 51 60). In the presence of the producer, the authorised representative takes/checks for every sample:

6 bottles with at least 0.75 l (of which 2 are left sealed for the producer),
wine identification number from the product registration,
volume in litres and the marking of the wine container,
wine cellar data register,
a record of the grape maturity confirmation (only for superior quality wines with protected geographical origin).

OBLIGATORY ANALYSES:

Physico-chemical analyses for still wines: alcohol strength (%vol), total dry extract (g/l), extract without sugar (g/l), residual sugar (g/l), relative density at 20°C (-),

pH (-), total acids (g tartaric acid/l), volatile acids (g acetic acids/l), free sulphur dioxide (mg/l), total sulphur dioxide (mg/l), sucrose, ash (g/l), air contact changes and the appearance of wine and residue. For sparkling and semi-sparkling wines, phosphates (mg/l), citric acid (g/l) and the carbon dioxide pressure at 20°C (bar) are additonaly determined.

Quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin must meet the minimum/maximum requirements regarding physico-chemical parameters and must also be sensory evaluated  with at least 16.1 points according to modified Buxbaum’s 20-point method (at least 18.1 points for superior quality wines with protected geographical origin).

PRICE:

Price excluding VAT for issuing certificates for still quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin is EUR 52.60 and EUR 65.70 for sparkling and semi-sparkling wines.

The price of sampling without VAT is EUR 10.10 for the first sample; for every next sample at the same producer it is EUR 5.10.

Wines with recognised traditional denomination (WINES PTP)

In Slovenia, as at the end of 2011 we protected with the recognised traditional denomination (PTP) the following wines: cviček PTP, teran PTP and izbrani teran PTP, belokranjec PTP, metliška črnina PTP, bizeljčan beli PTP and bizeljčan rdeči PTP.

SAMPLING:

Is performed the same as described for quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin (the producer cannot deliver the samples themselves).

OBLIGATORY ANALYSES:

Physico-chemical analyses coincide with the analyses obligatory for quality and superior quality wines with protected geographical origin; as an exception, for teran PTP we also additionally determine the content of lactic acid (g/l).

Wines marked with PTP must meet the minimum/maximum requirements regarding physico-chemical parameters that are prescribed in the rules for individual PTP wines. According to the modified Buxbaum 20-point method, they must be sensory evaluated  with at least 15.0 points for cviček PTP, with 16.1 points for teran PTP, with 16.3 points for belokranjec PTP, with 16.5 points for metliška črnina PTP, with 16.3 points for bizeljčan PTP and with 18.1 points for izbrani teran PTP. Simultaneously, their typical sensorial PTP characteristics must also be confirmed by wine experts.

PRICE:

Price excluding VAT for issuing a decision for PTP wines is EUR 52.60 and EUR 68.00 for teran PTP.

The price of sampling without VAT is EUR 10.10 for the first sample; for every next sample at the same producer it is EUR 5.10.
